Crayonball?

Postby FFang » Sun Mar 15, 2009 2:26 pm

Hi,

I am a really happy iphone scribball player, and noticed that on the appstore there is another app from you guys that looks very similar to scribball, though it seem to have updated graphics, and it is called Crayonball. Could you clarify what the game is? And BTW, do you think we could see on the iPhone the Van Gogh mode??

Hi FFang,

Crayon Ball is basically a reskinned version of ScribBall. It's the exact same gameplay with a new look and crayon drawn graphics. It's kind of like the Mercury Sable and Ford Taurus, different name for the same thing. We wanted to experiment how the game would do without us marketing or promoting it... and so far Crayon Ball has been selling at a higher rate than ScribBall. We're guessing that it's either the name is more attractive, or it had something to do with the slightly different categories we put Crayon Ball in.

The van gogh mode is on the todo list for iPhone ScribBall- hopefully approved by Apple and on the store by early next week.

Yeah, the name sounds trendier, and thanks to the name you can get on the "crayon physics" train... :) Anyway, are you planning to maintain two appstore applications, or will you be merging them at some point?

Can't wait for the new theme :)

Yep, we'll be maintaining both in the short term. We can't really merge them, but we can easily put all our new features in both apps, we wouldn't want anyone to miss out on anything!

The iPhone version doesn't have the storm ball- the screen is too small for the whirlwind, and not tall enough for the lightning to do a lot of good. Otherwise it's got the same powerups. The iPhone version doesn't have as many themes, only has one gameplay mode, and is missing a few other fancy features.

Crayon ball is currently on a special sale for $0.99, so that will probably be going up soon.
